Mt. Timbak - Scaling the third-highest Peak in Luzon

Scaling Mount Timbak was really such a great experience! Meeting with new folks, be inspired by the locals, sharing insights and laughing over silly jokes with the Conqueror Outdoor Club it was indeed a meaningful and fun experience that I will treasure forever.

Cagbalete Island Experience - Php 1,200 Cheapest Budget Ever!

Glad our CAGBALETE ISLAND Trip was a success. Thanks to Ms. Tess of Villa Cleofas who answered all of my inquiries and to Josiah Sicad of Lakas Trip. I'm glad that I stumbled upon his blog for this made our journey possible in the cheapest way.

Calaguas Island - Beach Bum's Paradise

What I love in Calaguas Island is its shimmering grains of powder-white sand and its awesome turquoise waters. No doubt, these make me want to go back again!

Dare to Climb a Mountain?

We face a lot of challenges everyday of our lives. Some are easy to handle while some may seem too much for us to take. And as I gradually became fond of climbing lately I realized that Life is.. Life is also a mountain to climb!

From Religiosity to Relationship

I was very sincere in seeking God. But I also saw the reality that my religiosity in church did not carry over to my life at home. I got angry at my nieces and pinched them whenever they touched my things, gave my mom, my ate, a weeks/ or month of silent treatment in rebellion to their strictness, spent hours devouring novels and giving way to my imaginations. I was selfish and self-centered.

Dell Philippines Commits to Making a Difference in the Community

PRESS RELEASE: MANILA, Philippines -- Dell Philippines has pledged support for four local charitable organisations promoting children’s welfare and education, further extending the company’s strategic global giving efforts to make a meaningful impact to communities around the world. The identified organizations are Tahanang Walang Hagdan, Inc., Childhope Asia Philippines, Inc., Children's Joy Foundation, Inc., and Haven for Children.

With an aim to address pressing social issues, Dell will work with these charities to provide assistance through technology, know-how and volunteer support. “We find that these four organizations have many needs, donations being just one of them,” Richard Teo, president for Dell Philippines said. “The activities that they need to roll out require volunteers and additional manpower, so I see our Make a Difference program as the best way to connect our team members and the communities that can benefit from our collective giving efforts.
“Our team members have always been passionate about wanting to help different communities, but in the past, they did not know how and where to go. By formalizing our strategic giving partners, we now encourage team members to devote their time to these worthy causes,” added Teo.
“We chose our current partners because they regularly need volunteers and team support. The programs may evolve, but the need for help is always there,” he said. “Dell Philippines will strive to sustain these charitable activities and lend our time year-on-year. The ultimate goal is to spread volunteerism among our people, and to see our efforts grow and benefit the community.”

Tahanang Walang Hagdan, Inc.Dell has been supporting Tahanang Walang Hagdan, Inc.—a rehabilitation and skills training center dedicated to helping people with disabilities become productive and self-sufficient members of society—through mentoring, donations and volunteering at the center. Tess Lloren, resource mobilization director of Tahanang Walang Hagdan Inc., said “Dell really has compassion towards marginalized sectors; not all companies will stay with you throughout the years. They have been very supportive with our outreach programs and services and have really helped us in every way.
Tahanang Walang Hagdan Computer 101
“Dell also donated several laptops which we use in the offices making our work faster and more efficient and also use them during our community visits in places where we undertake the community-based rehabilitation program,” she added.

The two organizations have also teamed up for a sustainable recycling program, another indication of the deep partnership between the two entities. According to Lloren, recyclable materials from the Dell Philippines offices will be sent to the center to be re-purposed. Items such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles can be reused by the foundation's staff, while newspapers are woven into other products, and non-recyclable items are sold to buyers of scrap materials. “The efforts of the volunteers and the proceeds really help us in sustaining our educational program for the young and with disabilities,” Lloren said.

Mount Manalmon and other Side Trips - Day Hike Trip

If you're looking for a quick getaway from Manila and wish to experience the thrill of nature trekking and mountain climbing, Mount Manalmon and its side trips are a good choice.

Mount Manalmon is less than 3 hours ride from Metro. It is located in San Miguel Bulacan and part of the Biak-na-Bato National Park. While considered an easy climb, the trail of this mountain becomes steep and rocky as the summit is approached.

The beginning.
We can't wait for another amazing moment to experience and to be so close to nature so despite bad weather forecasts we agreed to continue our 2nd annual trip--thank God cause it turned out to be the best decision for the group. It was raining on our way to Bulakan but when we finally reach San Miguel and  get off  from the bus, weather got better, and there was only drizzle.

We then rode a tricycle to Sitio Madlum (P60each) which took us about 45 minutes. The road was ok during the first 20 minutes, but it became rough as we near Sitio Madlum. Too late to realized that sitting at the back edge of the trike was really not a good choice. :(

Past 9:00AM when we arrived at Sitio Madlum. The water in the river is quite higher compare to other photos I saw online, maybe because of the constant rains. The river was surrounded by lush green rocks offering a peaceful and tranquil scenery. We enjoy the view, we took pics while our lead-climber settle all the necessaries fees at the registration area.

Crossing the Monkey Bridge
Most of us get excited to try the monkey bridge. When it's already my turn, I gathered all my courage. The bridge is quite high, the river is deep for sure due to regular rains, and MyGhadd! I dunno how to swim! But our guide assured that he will jump in just incase anyone from us fall down, he also said that so far, no one has fallen from the bridge yet! So be it! I set my foot on the bar and grip firmly on the cable. Though I'm wearing trek shoes, it still feels slippery cause of the thick mud on it's sole. It is not as easy as I thought! My knees went trembling on the first steps. I even want to back out. But they encourage me to finish it. Our guide also  told me not to look down, and it helps. :) Glad that despite my shaking knees I survived the challenge. :) Woo-hoo!

We were off to trek after braving the monkey bridge. It was a beautiful misty morning. The trail was friendly for anyone who can walk in between the raindrops for 2 hours.

As we go up, the weather was getting better and as we reached the summit we were greeted with the spectacular views of Mt. Arayat and Mt. Gola, plus the panoramic view of the Madlum River at the north side.

We took a lot of picture (walang bababa ng walang pang propayl pic na kuha! hehe), we give thanks, enjoyed the views and we're really happy that it was a cloud free summit. :) We didn't stay long at the top, we were all starved and so we headed back down.

2012 Dinner Dance: Anti - TB Educational and Fund Campaign

Inspiring and heartwarming --  that's how I felt last night when I attended the 2012 Philippine Tuberculosis Society Dinner Dance. I admired the Fund Campaign Volunteers who work hard and make this event a success and to the sponsors who shares their blessings for the benefit of PTSI.

The Philippine Tuberculosis Society is a non-stock, non-profit charitable organization founded on July 29, 1910 primarily to combat tuberculosis which is said to be still a major health problem in the Philippines today. Since then, PTSI has been on the forefront in the campaign against TB. They actively involved in the National Tuberculosis Program of the  Department of Health, primarily through the Private-Public Mix DOTS (Directly Observed  Treatment Short Course) the subsidized  treatment of indigent TB patients, and its involvement in TB research and training  programs. With its constant quest for TB control and management.

Dancing and giving – all for a great cause.
2012 Dinner Dance, anti-TB educational and Fund Campaign was held in a beautiful ballroom, chandeliers and all with dinner and appetizers served at Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan yesterday, September 27, 2012. Funds raised from these campaigns are used to subsidize medical treatments of indigent patients at the Quezon Institute, as well as to support the various anti-TB programs of PTSI in the provinces such as TB in Prisons, TB in Children and TB in the Workplace. Glad to know that there are company and manila’s cause-oriented folks that are willingly shelled out donations for PTSI’s fight against the deadly disease.

How to Apply for Pag-ibig Salary Loan

Some companies facilitate Pag-ibig loans for their employees while others don't. So to apply personally for Pag-IBIG Salary Loan, here's the 3 easy steps:

1. Ready all the needed requirements before going to the nearest Pag-IBIG branch.
Xerox copies of 2 Valid ID's, Latest 1-month payslip, and duly accomplished Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan Application Form are the requirements.

2. Secure Employer's information needed to complete the form.
Make sure to duly complete the form especially the Employer section -- Signature of Office Head/ or Authorized Representative, Employer, SSS/GSIS No., Agency Code, and Branch Code to avoid returning back.

3. Bring all the requirements together with your original valid IDs to the nearest Pag-IBIG Branch.
If you will apply at their Ortigas Branch in Pasig (just across SSS), application is at the 4th floor of Westar Bldg. Get a number from the guard and wait for your number to flash on the screen.

When called, present your requirements. It will be check by the personnel in-charge. This is to make sure you are qualified for a loan. If there is no problem with your records, a date will given to you for the claiming of your check. (More or less 2 weeks after your application).

FAQ & Tips:
  1. Are they still open after 5PM? Yes. Pag-ibig Branch in Pasig is still open after 5PM. I arrived there around 5:20PM yesterday (Sept 20, 2012) and they do still accept loan applicants.
  2.  Where do they base the loan amount? As far as I know, the amount you can borrow is based on the total number of your contribution.
So for instance, the borrower has a 30-months contribution, this will be multiplied by 200, then 60% of it would be the loanable amount.

Total no. of Contribution:                          30   (Months)
Borrower's Monthly Contribution:       x 200 (Employee + Employer Contribution)
                                                           --------------
                                                           = 6,000 x 0.60 = P3,600 (est. loanable amount)
    - 24 to 59 months contribution = 60% of the total amount
    - 60 to 119 months contribution = 70% of the total amount
    - at least 120 months contribution = 80% of the total amount (this is the maximum)

Please also note that if you happen to work in different cities or provinces most probably your monthly contribution record on their system would be insufficient. This is because Pag-IBIG System is not centralized yet. If that's the case, you need to request to consolidate your contribution so that you will not be lacking in your monthly contribution.

Disclaimer: The steps you’ll read above is a documentation on my experience how I applied for my Pag-ibig Salary Loan. While I appreciate your comments, I can not do anything for any of your complaints nor could I answer any of your questions with regards to your personal Pag-ibig accounts. Thank you.

    The odd-eyed Cat

It was 6am in the morning and I just woke up by our newly adopted cat, Blanca -- the odd-eyed. She was sitting in front of my face, meowing so sweetly as if begging me to open the door.
Awwww.. it melt my heart! It was my first time petting a cat and it feels good. :)

She has become fond of my family in her first 2 days at home. She is so sweet, gentle and loves to snuggle! Sadly, the original owner thought of that this little kitty is deaf. According to him, Bianca is not responding to her name, and not responding to commands, and when they call it for food, they'll have to put first the plate near her so she can see it, which we had noticed too.

Despite I had a hint that she might really be, still, I am not convinced until I did a couple of research. And it's true, as per Google, some white cats suffer from congenital deafness caused by a degeneration of the inner ear. This condition is associated with blue irises - blue-eyed white cat has a high probability of deafness. It has been found that deafness is more likely to affect the ear on the blue-eyed side.

This are all new to me, I gotta adjust my communication with Blanca, indeed, she needs special care. Anyone here who have a deaf cat, how do you communicate with them? Care to share? thanks!

Faith Goals: Yes! He is indeed Faithful

Hooray! It’s September! Gosh! Time flies so fast as they always say. The next thing you know, its already Christmas!

I suddenly thought of my faith goals. I checked my notes, from which I listed some of the things that I am believing for this year--I took time to ponder on it and it's just soO amazing to see how God can answer prayers. He is real, alive and He is indeed at work in our lives!

For me, listing my faith goal and seeing them answered by GOD increases my faith in HIM, it is also a good way to keep myself on track and motivated.  Last year, before my week of "one meal a day" Prayer and Fasting I started to list down the things that I am believing for 2012. I break down my faith goals into four areas.
    1. Personal Faith Goals. It includes Spiritual Revival, Physical Healing, Rich Generosity, Prosperity and Abundance.
    2. My Family. If you've been praying for Restoration of Relationships and Household Salvation in the Family.
    3. Career. Excellence, Promotion.
    4. Ministry. It is for Small Group Growth, Prayer for Colleagues, classmates, bosses, employees.
And here's a part of my notes. (my 'lil nephew thought of it as a scratch one time–so pls. bear with it^^)
For 2012, My Faith Goal is to Focus on what's Important, Year of 'No'.

    PERSONAL FAITH GOALS

To be more Faithful on the 10% tights. It's really really challenging, especially my budget was really tight. It is not easy, believe me and this is something I'm still working on. Yet, God has been faithful to me.  He pour out His blessings abundantly - early this year when I was able to close a deal, real estate thingy which I got ten thousand bucks. I have a small sideline business that earns about 400-500 a week, I'll do blogging on the other sides and had the privilege of being invited to some events and get paid, I had an increase on salary! Not so big, but, something to be thankful for :) With God's financial provisions, it becomes possible for me to go to places I want. Four months ago when we had our first outreach program held in Ulingan. It was actually an answered prayer, much of the funding comes from our own pockets.  It's just overwhelming to see how God has blesses us so we can also be a blessings to others. :)
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.             Malachi 3:10
☑ Every Business (Buy & Sell) Shall prosper in Jesus mighty name amen! - My sideline business is going well, as I have mentioned, I was able to closed a deal too! :) and there's more for this month! Though, I already claimed it, still hoping that everything will really fall into place. :) (Update: Guess what?! We're able to closed the deal! woo-hoo!)

Praying for a  House and Lot for my parents. (Is anything too hard from the Lord? Just have Faith)
回 Lord I want to save additional 10k by the end of this year. This is aside from 150 pesos that I keep every week. Well, 4 months to go. geez.
回 Learn another Language. Mandarin (Target: March-June). Fail. But still have months to go.
More Posts, more traffic for my sites. 4 posts/ Month. I'm happy cause there are actually some who reads my blog pala. hehe.  I have received several invites to some events, I get paid, I get freebies, it's an awesome experience. Lucky Me?! Ahmm, I guess I just have an awesome God who supplies me the wisdom and strength that I need. Believe me, when I was starting out, I can't even finish a post! ^^ But He is God who provides (Matthew 7:11) - He knows where I am lacking and He supplies me with that. :)
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:19
I'm still a newbie to the blogsphere though. :p

☑ Been praying for a new CP and a running shoes and it was answered! Yey! Got an iPhone 3Gs and a merrell running shoes which I got for 70% off! Oops, I've got also a free phone from my provider,  Alcatel One Touch which I sold. ^^  Remember, when He says He will provide, He will provide.  :)

For my bucket list, here's what I exactly wrote last year.

☑ 2 Mountains, Pico & Pulag =) | Mount Pulag, checked! I haven't go back to Pico yet, BUT I was able to conquer Mt. Manalmon, so checked!
回 Walk accross San Juanico Bridge
☑ 2 islands, Kwebang Lagpas, Potipot or Magalawa, Zambales. Kwebang Lampas is one of the best! (December Updates: Funny how God can be a comedian. I remember writing only 2 islands from my "bucket list". And this year, I was able to see Kwebang Lampas and just 2 weeks ago, we were able to visit hundred islands (*unplanned trip). I only ask for 2, He gave me hundreds of them. ^^ SO generous, isn't it?
☑ 2 Beaches, El Nido & _______________________. Family Outing on one of the beaches in Laiya, Batangas (April). (December Update : Although haven't visit El Nido yet :(, I was able to go beach bumming at one of the beaches in Lingayen, Pangasinan weeks ago. So checked! :D
回 Bike across greenfields of Bataan
回 Lord I want to see shooting star in person
回 Lemme Lord experiene to milk a cow
回 Lord I wish to see fireflies, gleaming on the sky!
☑ Travel Solo. / Eat in a resto alone. Checked! Went to Touch of Glory aka Prayer mountain in Antipolo for an overnight stay.
    回 Watch a movie alone.

Some of them has been answered already while some were not answered YET. Still, I am grateful because GOD has blessed me beyond my faith goal list and I'm posting it simply because I want this to be a testimony of God's goodness and faithfulness. Indeed, He is a Faithful God and He will be forever faithful. We just have to be still, have faith and know that He is God!

    Hebrews 11:17-19 | Malachi 3:6 | Numbers 23:19 | Psalm 105:8 | 1 Corinthians 10:13

Well, I guess this is too long already will share with you guys the other three areas in my next post.

But before I end this post, here's a question I want to leave with you:
    - What are you believing God for this year? Was it answered already?

My first ever Nail Art experience

I'm not big into nail art, but a lot of my friends have been trying it, so I figured why not. That’s how, on Tuesday evening, I experienced my first ever Nail Art at Elite Nails Spa at Capri, Oasis in Pasig. This is the 4th branch of Elite Nails Spa where the owner happens to be a good friend of my sister. I'm just so happy for them because they certainly came a fair way since their humble beginnings in 2010.

When I was called up to the nail technician’s chair, I was overwhelmed by choice & slightly fumble by the fact that I really could get anything on my nails. I asked the nail technician suggestion on what designs would best fit on my small nails :p And guess what?! she too can't decide. Well, I can't blame her,  it's really challenging to choose a design that won't over power my nails. So then I settled for the simplest design of all:  flowers with light green strokes :)

My nail technician was gentle with my nails and cuticles.  After a very basic manicure (filing my nails & pushing back the cuticles), she began with the nail art thing. I can't help to feel that I made her life complicated while she's painting my tiny nails. ^^  She do a good good

She applied the first coat, a gold base polish by BK Beauty and then a soft green polish for the tip. And then she painted dots of white polish on my nails and she trace the middle of it to create the petal look.

It was time to add the leaves print. She grabbed another polish and some skinny brushes, then got to work painting up a light green & yellow colour on my nails.

We finished up with a layer of fine, maroon iridescent glitter in the middle of the white polish and a drop of cuticle oil on each nail for my polish to dry faster. Of course, I was delighted. Who wouldn’t be?! This is my first time at Elite Nails - Capri Oasis and it definitely will not be my last. :)

BTW, this is the set of nail polish used for my nail art. ^^ Ate Lyn, my nail technician is a bit shy but she do a good job - how I marvel at her artistic skills!

Elite Nails have many different colors and brands of nail polish to choose from such as O.P.I, china glaze, Orly, Misa, L.A. Colors, Wet n wild, and more! Their nail art price ranges from Php140-450, depending on the designs.

You should check out their page now because they have an ongoing promo that you should not miss!  >> Elite Nails - Up to 50% Off<<

    Boldness

It is a deep sense of awareness that the world is not  balanced. That there are many things that you have allowed yourself to "settle" for, not because you agree but because complacency has become the norm and so apathy and indifference is a real option.

    Be bold.

    Scrap your heart out!

Hellooooooo!  Happy Sunday to all! Its been  while :) So what have I been up to? Well, in a nutshell been attending several blogger events. *thankful* And yesterday was one of those fun-filled events I have ever attended. (Thanks to All About Scrapbooking and Jeman of Orange magazine for the exclusive invites).

I never thought scrapbooking would be SO MUCH FUN and EXCITING! Well, I know that it is a fun hobby but for me, it also requires a lot of time and effort to create a quality one that is why it never became "my thing".

Hence, yesterday is different. Wow! I never thought I could (almost ^^) finish this entire scrapbook. Complicated much! Whew! (Thanks to my buddy, scrapbooking is fun with him *blush*).
It should look like the pic above ^^
I guess the secret is, it should be heartfelt. Just like blogging, you'll just have to enjoy what your doing :). Don't feel intimidated by others stunning layouts and design, just focus on your artwork and scrap your heart out! And remember, there is no such thing as "wrong move" in scrapbook. You'll just have to enjoy. :)

Here's some basic scrapbooking techniques I've learned from the event:

    1. Cropping/ or trimming of unnecessary elements so that they look better or the photo only focuses on the most important part of the scene.

Can you guess how many images has been cropped? :D

    2. Matting refers to putting a border around the photo, similar to a picture frame. This is usually done with paper, or matting materials. You can also use different types of scissors to cut your mats to make more designs.
    Hallmark Mini Photo Frames
We've used two different designs of matte paper here. You can buy this mini photo frames at any Hallmark store.

    3. Journaling. For me, journaling and scrapbooking works hand in hand. Write something down behind those pictures because without the stories, scrapbooking becomes, to me, just a cut-and-paste paper-art hobby.

If having some problem in writing stories, just remember the 5Ws. This stands for Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. Once you've figured out the 5Ws and H, begin to write brief sentences around each element. This techniques helps you break down your story into parts and ensures you don't miss the important details.

So that's it! I hope you've learn something :p  Indeed, "Scrapbooking is 'A Work Of Heart". Now, I somehow understand my 'scrapper friend' who's really a fan of this. Memories are so precious to us all and Scrapbooking is more than a way to secure family memories and photos -- it's an Art of preserving treasures. It is so much fun and you are creating something of value for future generation. :)

I'm 26 and I just tried ice skating for the very first time ever!

Yesterday, I went ice skating with my friend. Actually, I'll never thought that we will be out for a skate so when we arrived at SM MOA and laid his plan about the ice skating thing, I was kinda tensed and nervous but then, the feeling of excitement was getting stronger in me. Beside, ice skating was always on my bucket list, it's just that I had no one to skate with and the moment when some of my friends show their interest, guess what?! The ice skating rink that once was in SM Megamall had gone closed!

A mix feeling of nervousness and excitement, I walked carefully towards the skate rink. And my friend steered me carefully through the skate handle. I never thought that it was that slippy! I couldn't even stand without my hands on the wall/ bar. I was so afraid because I really don't know how to do it! Yes, I can ride a mountain bike but ice skating is a whole different thing! If only I knew how to roller blades maybe it would be a lot easier for me, but I never got a chance to try roller blades, not even once.

So for an hour I guess I was just holding the wall all throughout while walking around the edge of the rink.  Hahaha!  I can't also count how many times I hit the floor, but it was ok -- my guide is persistent and so do I in learning. He told me that I should not be afraid to fall, coz it's normal, in fact even people who are really good at skating still fall at times! So it is not embarrassing at all! He was so patient to teach me. He told me that If I feel like I'm going to fall, I should have bend my knees, relax, never panic, for this way, I would regain my balance. Yeah, he guide me all through out, yet, got a pair of bruises on my knees. :D But I accept them ^^ they are a trophy for me.

My friend taught me the basic like the V-shaped standing, He also said that I should have glide my feet, not step. At first I can't let go of the handle bars at all, later, when I gained my balance and get familiar with the ice I started to glide my left foot while I'll set my right foot on whichever direction I want. An hour and so, with those 'lil march, small glide, plus a friend whose guiding me, I found myself in the middle of the rink! Amazing eh! :p

Even though I fell a lot of times, I will never hesitate to get up and try it again cause I know, that this, will get the better of me. :)
Lesson learned:  Do not be afraid to fall! It happens to every one. cheers!
BTW, here are some of my tips:
    • When you go ice skating, prepared a jacket and a couple pairs of socks. Preferably, you should not wear shorts or anything that exposes the skin on your legs because if you fall, you may have to literally peel your skin off the ice just like what had happened to me.  (Well, on my case I was surprised! I had no idea that were going to be there after all!)
    • Know your shoe size, and make sure your boots are reasonably comfortable and your laces are tied up.
    • If you feel that you are falling backwards, bend your knees or try to touch your toes and hold the position for a few seconds until you regain your balance (this really works for me!)
    • When you fall, fall to your side so that you don't get hurt that much.
that's it for me, happy ice-skating folks :D

Inside Dell: Now number one Healthcare Service IT provider

It's been 6 years since I finished College. Right after graduation, I grabbed the first job opportunity that came my way. Out of so many job interviews and job hunts I had, I landed in a small publishing company with a position of a Layout Artist.  Although I’m happy with my job and my colleagues, I have to leave after a year and found myself trying my luck in a call center industry. The pay was promising in my second job but my health suffered due to late night working. I have to leave it all behind because my body cant cope up with the grave yard shift. God has been kind, He immediately provided my next source of living – a BPO company and a subsidiary of one of the top resellers of electronic products in the US.

I believed I’ve found a job that gives me the best of both worlds – a high-paying salary and a career growth that nurtures my system with new knowledge and experience I never imagine I will ever have. I’ve enjoyed my 3 years of working in a BPO company until a sudden misunderstanding with a former superior have to take it all to end.  Now, I’m at peace with my current job and company.

Speaking of a BPO company again, last Wednesday, May 16, I was invited in a small event in Dell’s head office in Eastwood, Libis. Dell opened its  door for the first time to non-job-seekers and provided us information about them as a company and their business’ program. I knew about the company since college and having friends taking up IT courses then, Dell is a company I would often hear from them that they dream to work for after graduation. It is also one of the most preferred brands for notebook PC, one of the most expensive too. :)
    Richard Teo,  President, Dell Philippines
Learning that they also tapped the healthcare business is quite a new information to me. Good thing that Mr. Richard Teo, Dell’s Philippines President, introduced us to their business and even walked us through their office. The company is situated in one of the modern and high-rised buildings inside the Eastwood business Center. Their HQ houses its 1,600 employees equipped with single-use computers, high-speed internet and modern facilities providing customer and technical services to their clients in different part of the globe.
Care Consumer, Serving UK & Irelend
The tour made me missed my old office although their office is a lot bigger and more complete. The operations’ floor is impressive and very professional-looking.  Despite a few people touring the area, the employees are not disturbed because every cube has tall divisions, which also gives me an impression that everyone is minding their own business.  I actually like to achieve the same thing because I feel more productive if I have a little privacy in my work space. The fully-air conditioned and carpeted space speaks of complete comfort for employees currently on the floor.

The major turn-on for me about this company, is the employment opportunity they give to physically-challenged individuals because I personally saw one.  The employee greeted us  with a big smile in his face and even shared to us his awesome experience at Dell.

I also met a married couple who also shared their gratefulness to their employer that gave them opportunity to learn new things and grow together. That was sweet indeed. :)

After a few more chit chat with some of their employees, Mr. Teo ushered us to areas outside the business premises.  We went to their pantry area, I guess three times the size in my previous company. The pantry area is well-ventilated and there are quite a few canteen concessionaires.
    Dell's Pantry
Not far from the pantry is a space like an internet-café where employees taking their breaks can have the chance to check on their personal emails, social media sites, online games or plainly just do internet browsing.
Café (Sorry for the shaky shot)
The company also cares for their employees’ health and wellness thus providing a gym with complete exercise and fitness equipment. These add-ons are not very much accommodated in other BPOs, I’m glad that they had these considerations for their employees.
We do take care of our employees and treat them as family. ~ Richard Teo, President Dell Philippines
    Gym
With the rise of demand for BPO workers, the challenge for BPO companies remain to be a competitive pursuit from factors of which provides the higher salary and which has wider scope of benefits for employees and more unique offers.  As an employee, it is important that we know our worth and that the company must recognize our worth too. It is only then we can feel fulfillment in our career.   :)

Rizal High School: Struck with a feeling of nostalgia

The highlight of my weekend was attending the "Selecta Cornetto Tugs Tugs Grand Eyeball V: The White Party" at the Mega trade Hall 1 of SM Megamall as one of the blogger chosen to cover the event and on Sunday morning, bicycling from our house to Rizal High School Oval to go for a jog.  It has been ages since the last time I visited my Alma Mater. It was fantastic: I rode from our place along litter-free streets with few people on vehicles and up to my former school which is a few kilometers away from our home. It was quite a liberating experience I had for months!
Rizal High School (Main), Caniogan, Pasig City
I hold up for a second and stop my bike apart from the big gate of Rizal High School--it was nostalgic arriving there. I had some flashback of old memories - pagtambay sa bench mode, seeing the old flag pole, I remembered the moment I once recited the National Anthem in front of thousands students of RHS as a sanction for being a hardheaded student. Yes, I was! Those were the days!
    RHS Oval Field
    Oval Track
Yeah, almost forgot that I was here for a jog. :p I did 6 laps on the oval - combination of run and walk. After that, I'll took the time to take some photos around my former school - some part that, for once, been memorable to me. :)

    Naalala nyo pa ba to?
    Tips:
    1. Rizal High School oval is open every morning for those who wants to go for a run/jog. It's free!
    2. Is it safe to leave bikes/ motorcycles around there? I guess so. But then its better to secure your bike with a lock. *wink

PS: To my Alma Mater, I just want you to know that I am proud to be an alumnus of yours :)

    bittersweet,
    Jek

    How iButterfly Apps Works?

I've always had a fascination with butterflies. I remember, when I was a child, butterflies used to fly so slowly outside of our house, been wanting to catch them with my bare hands but I'm afraid to do so as the old saying goes that "when you touch a butterfly and accidentally touch your eyes you'll get blind". Lolz. Apparently the excitement from seeing so many butterflies never left me over the years. So when SM Cyberzone invited bloggers for the launching of iButterfly I immediately registered and luckily got an exclusive invite from them which was held at SM North EDSA last Saturday, May 5.

Later, I found out that iButterfly is an application for iOS and Android OS enabled phones, you can catch the iButterfly using your smartphone via Augmented Reality. Amazing, eh? When I received the email I right away install the iButterfly Apps from my iPhone 3Gs via iTunes Store in the hope of winning freebies & prizes which is tagged along with the butterflies during the launch.
    How it Works?

iButterfly was previously created by Japan's Mobile Art Lab and has been successfully launched in Hongkong, Indonesia and Singapore. The iButterfly uses GPS for the location and number of their virtual butterflies, it also uses motion sensors for the smartphone users to catch the iButterfly and store it inside their phones, and it is an augmented reality were iButterflies exist only in the augmented reality world and can be viewed using your smartphones.
When "Catch!" is displayed, shake lightly to catch the butterfly!
Basically, these iButterflies serve as coupons & discounts.  If you have Internet access via your smartphone you can catch them at the following SM Supermalls.
    • SM North Edsa
    • SM Megamall
    • SM Mall of Asia
    • SM Cebu
    • SM Davao
    • SM Southmall
    • SM Fairview
    • SM Baguio.
Once you catch a butterfly it'll be saved on your "collection". You can redeem your prize by presenting iButterflies at the following participating stores.

    • Forever21
    • Mcdonalds
    • Jollibee

The Sky Garden's Sky Dome: Experience the wonders of life under the sea

The Sky Garden's Sky Dome has become a premiere entertainment destination in the North Metro area. Last December when they had this Snowy Village where mall-goers experience the Northpole Christmas from which kids and even  young at heart truly enjoy. Now, another big and exciting sea adventures come your way as SM City North Edsa takes you to Sea Explorers World at the Sky Garden

Featuring replicas of nine  of the most famous sea creatures in the world - dolphins, walrus, sea lions, killer whales, emperor penguins, hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, pelicans and great white shark in their natural habitat in the different areas of Sky Garden from April 27 until may 31, 2012.

    Dolphin Lagoon
Dolphins are marine mammals closely related to whales and porpoises. Half of their brain can sleep at a time, leaving the other part fully awake to keep them afloat and aware of dangers. They also need to be partly awake so they can breathe. This makes them very unique from most mammals who lived on land.
    Dolphin Lagoon

Have you gone dolphin watching? You might ask why they have to jump out of the water when swimming? This sounds funny but dolphins  jump in the air to save energy, as it consumes less energy traveling through air than water.

    Walrus Shores
Unlike the dolphin, a walrus can sleep while it swims. When it's time to sleep, the walrus fill its throat sacs with air for them to function like floaters and keep them on water.
    Walrus Shores

Walrus can eat up to 120 pounds of food a day! They can consume 3000-6000 clams in one go! Sadly, walruses have been close to extinction for some time, because they are hunted for their tusks, oil, skin and meat.

Orca, the Great Killer Whale Pool.
Orca is a toothed whale belonging to the ocenic dolphin family . Although they're tagged as the killer whales they are not considered a threat to humans. They're the largest of the dolphin family. Orca are called  the killer whales not because they feed on humans but because they do sometimes kill other whales, hunting them in packs.
Orca, the Great Killer Whale Pool.

An Orca is literally larger than life! Imagine they can stretch up to 32 feet long and weigh 12,000 lbs - thats roughly 600 times our size! With that, they all have the second-heaviest brains among marine mammals - all those brain neurons make them easily trainable.

    Sea Lion Coast
Sea Lions are known to be highly intelligent animals - we see them in parks- performing tricks not all animals can do. They are so smart they have also been trained to assist the United States navy!

    Sea Lion Coast

Have you seen Sea Lions cry? That's not because they're sad - their tear ducts are simply removing the salt water from their eyes.  They do have clear eyesight but are nearsighted. But unlike us, they can see better in the water than on land.

Did you know that even if they live in water, sea lions don't actually drink water? they get all the water they need from their food! Amazing!

    Emperor Penguin Park
Among the 17 species of penguins, Emperor Penguins are the largest. Being the only penguin that can survive the Antarctic's icy weather all year  round, they live in the Antarctic with an average life span of 20 years. To identify them, they are penguins with tall stature and yellow color around their necks.
    Emperor Penguin Park

Their wings have the highest feather density of any bird species, but they cannot fly. Sad, right? But even if they cannot fly as seabirds, they can dive deeper than any other known bird species, and they use this skill to catch their food deep in the ocean.

Did you know that a group of penguins are called differently when on land and at sea? On land they are called a waddle of penguins, while at sea, a raft.

    Pelican Aviary
If its not a typical bird and not a plane, it could be a pelican! Unlike other birds, pelicans have bold, black and white markings, blue legs, an enormous bill with pink pouch and yellow eye rings.  All pelicans have elongated bills and throat pouches. they have the largest bill among birds at 18 inches. They use this to catch fish and rainwater for drinking.

    Pelican Aviary

So what are you waitin for? Definitely there are more reasons to go malling and enjoy summer at SM City North EDSA!
